Hyaluronic acid and collagen are very often used in medicine and dermatology. Why? Well, these are ingredients that improve the appearance of the skin. We can even meet them in dietary supplements and skincare cosmetics. Not sure which substance to choose? Read our article!
Both collagen and hyaluronic acid occur naturally in our bodies. Most of them are found in the skin and subcutaneous tissue. Collagen is just some kind of scaffold on which cells rest. This substance is responsible for the blood supply and nourishment of the skin. In addition, collagen is responsible for the elasticity of the skin.
Hyaluronic acid is present inside cells, but sometimes it can also be found in the subcutaneous tissue. It does not make the skin elastic but binds water. Several dozen water molecules can adhere to one particle of acid, therefore in its natural form, hyaluronic acid acts as a filler.
